Eva Sampi

By Sun Advocate

PRICE – Eva Selina “Nana” Seeronen Sampi cashed in her chips at the age of 102 on June 19 after a final trip to Wendover with all her family the week prior to her passing.
She was born April 23, 1913 in Kenilworth, Utah to John Robert and Helda Telia Seeronen.
In her last years she resided at Beehive Homes where she received excellent care and celebrated her 100th birthday with many family and friends witnessing her receive the Centennial Pin of Utah. She made the decision to return home to die. Her stubborn Finn nature allowed her to spend the last couple years with her family and welcome a new generation with the birth of her great-great-grandson “Joe Bug”. Thankfully, that decision gave us many additional memories and videos to treasure.
Grammy was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands John Askern and Theodore Sampi; her only child, Shawna Askern Baker; grandson, Billy Joe Baker, grand-nephew, Shea Seeronen; and several siblings.
She is survived by son-in-law Lyle Baker; granddaughters, Jody (Matt) Wenner, Sandi (Michael) Blackham; great grandsons, Caine Wenner, Lakota (Chantelle) Fisher, Corbin Fisher, JD Baker and great great grandson, Joe Fisher. She will also be missed by her nephews, John (Patt) Seeronen and family, Mark (Shauna) Seeronen and sister-in-law, Margaret Seeronen.
Per her wishes she will be cremated and there will be no funeral or memorial service. Grammy chose to have “no fuss”. The family would like to thank CNS Home Health and hospice care for their assistance in helping her return to her home where she passed peacefully surrounded by her family. In lieu of flowers the family wishes everyone to take a moment and let those you love know how you feel about them and cherish the moments you have with them. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome to share memories of Eva at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
