Tamara Pretiger


CASTLE DALE – Tamara G. Pretiger, age 50, passed away suddenly Jan. 24, 2007.
She was born Dec. 16, 1956 in San Angelo, Texas to Robert and Christine Stewart Graham. Married John T. Pretiger May 31, 1998 in Ogden.
Tamara was a kind hearted and generous person who loved helping anyone in need. Oftentimes she would go without in order to help a stranger.
She loved the outdoors, working in her garden, craft work, and caring for her pets. She had a great love for all animals and she made sure that the neighborhood pets were cared for.
Tamara will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Survived by loving husband, John Pretiger, Castle Dale; children, Billy, Clinton; Rachael and Jared; father, Robert (Terri) Graham; brother, Rob (Kathy) Graham, all of Texas; sister, Debra (Justin) Tisdale, Farr West; and special aunt, June Bratten, Arizona. She was preceded in death by mother.
Memorial service Wednesday, Jan. 31, 11 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday one half hour prior to service.


Patrick Garrett


WEST VALLEY CITY – Pat left us Jan. 26, 2007 to return to God after a long battle with pain.
He was born June 23, 1969 in Murray, Utah.
He has finally found the peace he has been searching for. We will miss him forever and know he is our guardian angel watching over us from heaven.
He loved to golf and fish and take his daughter hiking. We will miss those times.
Pat is survived by wife, Kimberly; daughter, Peyton Ivy; unborn baby son, Gage; father, Fred; mother, Renee; sister, Teresa; grandmother, Helen; father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Linda Bartschi; brother-in-law, Mikel (April) Bartschi; sister-in-law, Jodi (Jason) Stanley; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends he left behind who love him very much and will miss him dearly.
“Good-bye, my darling angel, you will forever be my life and my love.”
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 1, 11 a.m. at the Westland 2nd LDS Ward, 7171 S. 2700 West. Viewing will be Wednesday, Jan. 31, 6 to 8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and Thursday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Valley South Memorial Park.


Martha Vendetti


EAST CARBON/GREEN RIVER, Wyo. – Martha Eileen Vendetti, 88, of Green River, Wyo. died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater after a short illness.
She was born July 25, 1918 in Wetmore, Colo., where she was raised with three brothers and a sister. Eileen spent the majority of her life in the Wetmore, Florence and Pueblo areas.
She and her husband, Joe, moved to East Carbon in 1956 and remained there until shortly after his death in 1983. She returned to Pueblo in 1984, and then moved to Green River, Wyo. in 2005.
Spending time in the outdoors, playing cards and of late, Bingo, where a few of her hobbies, but Eileens’ family was her life. Her energy, huming and sense of humor were only a few signs of a tremendous attitude. And oh what a cook!
Her eyes spoke volumes and she possessed a wonderful glow especially when speaking of or spending time with family.
Seven children morn her loss, Alvin and Dick of Pueblo, Colo.; Janice of Snohomish, Wash.; Ed of Lovelock, Nev.; Sharon and Betty Jo of Vernal; and Joe of Green River, Wyo. She cherished her children, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Following cremation at the Vase White Mountain Crematory the family and close friends will take part in the spreading her ashes later this summer. Her urn will rest beside the urn of her late husband in Wetmore Cemetery.


Dalene Spink


PRICE – Dalene Pilling Spink, age 42, passed away Jan. 27, 2007 due to complications from a recent surgery.
Born Feb. 22, 1964 in Price to Dale Cleon and Dorthy Richmond Pilling. Married Robert Chris Hoggott, later divorced. Married Joseph Spink Oct. 22, 2005 in Price.
Lifelong resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1982. She enjoyed camping, traveling and riding horses. Dalene loved spending quality time with her girls and family.
Survived by husband, Joe Spink, Price; daughters, Krisdale and Kensie Hoggatt, Cedar City; and brother, Michael Pilling, Huntington. She was preceded in death by parents; and brother, Scott Pilling.
Funeral service, Thursday, Feb. 1, 2 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery.


Doug Martinez


HELPER – Our beloved son and brother, Douglas P. Martinez, age 50, passed away Jan. 28, 2007 at Parkdale Care Center after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 10, 1956 in Price to Frutoso “Fritz” and Cecelia (Sally) Marez Martinez.
He graduated from Carbon High School and College of Eastern Utah and continued his education in Cedar City. He was a member of the Catholic Church and an avid sports fan. His favorites were the Denver Broncos and the Utah Jazz. The family extends our greatest thanks to the caring and professional staff of Parkdale.
Survived by loving and caring mother, Sally of Helper; three sisters and four brothers, Connie (Bill) Erdakos, Mattheson, Ill.; Art (Becky) Martinez, Magna; Ronnie (Pauline) Martinez, Las Vegas, Nev.; Bonnie (Gary) O’Laughlin, Blackfoot, Idaho; Richard Martinez, West Valley; Robert (Pam) Martinez, Price; Rose Minchey, Herriman; and many special nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father.
Funeral service Thursday, Feb. 1, 11 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.


Marcia Snow


ORANGEVILLE/ROOSEVELT – Marcia T. Snow passed away Jan. 24, 2007 from cancer which she had fought before and survived at the home of her son, Richard, in Roosevelt. This time her body was too tired to win the fight.
She was born in Torrey to Eldon and Theresa Thompson. She married Sheldon Snow in 1945 and shortly after that they moved to Orangeville where they made their home. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. She was her hsuband’s special lady. Her husband, Sheldon, passed away in 1999.
When she was 2 years old her family moved to Ferron.
She is survived by brother, Robert (Shelly) Thompson; children, Richard (Wilma); Ray (Tina); Blaine (Diana); and Linda (Jeff) Goodwin. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Neil, Marian, Verd; and sister, Ramona Anderson.
Funeral services were Jan. 29, in the Orangeville LDS Church, 45 W. 100 South. Burial, Orangeville Cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
