Utah National Guard to provide aid for pre-Super Bowl flyover

By Sun Advocate

The Utah Air National Guard will conduct a special air-refueling mission Friday, Feb. 2 in support of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, who will conduct a flyover at Super Bowl XLI in Miami Feb. 4.
A Utah Air National Guard KC-135R Stratotanker will refuel the six Thunderbird jets somewhere over the Midwestern U.S. enroute from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., to South Florida.
The aircraft will depart the Salt Lake Air Base at approximately 8 a.m., Friday, Feb. 2, conduct the refueling mission and return at 12:30 p.m. the same day.
The Utah Air National Guard has reserved limited space on the aircraft for up to 20 local media representatives to accompany the air crew on the mission.
One representative per media outlet will be permitted on the flight. For example, a television station or newspaper may send a photographer or a reporter but not both.
Requests will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested media organizations should submit the name of one primary and one alternate passenger for flight-manifest approval by noon on Wednesday, Jan.31.
A finalized departure time will be announced later this week.
