Carbon’s bats woke up in the fifth inning of the game with North Sanpete, and from there they coasted to a 14-4 victory.

They could have let Friday get them down, but they didn’t. In fact they sprang from clenches of defeat to a convincing victory that sets the stage for a showdown with a Region 8 rival on Thursday afternoon in Price.
The Carbon High baseball team has been a different animal this season from what it has been in the past few years. But on Tuesday they took a clue from past squads which brought about a resounding win as the Dinos took out North Sanpete 14-4.
But it wasn’t easy; in fact at the beginning of the game there was some doubt that the bus ride home would be a happy one.
North Sanpete struck early and hard going up 4-0. Aaron Sandoval had taken the mound for the Dinos and gave up the Hawks only runs of the game. That was after three scoreless innings by both teams.
But the Dino’s knew that their fate was in their own hands and entered the fifth inning looking for blood. They put five on the board, which later proved to be the point at which they didn’t need to worry anymore.
Then finished off North Sanpete with nine more runs in the next two innings.
JJ Blue was scorching at the plate. He tripled and sent two over the fence for the Dinos. Sandoval and Jd Sherman also had a show of power as they each went deep for Carbon. Kyle Asay added a couple of doubles to contribute to the offensive show.
Fortunately for Carbon, Emery went down to defeat at the hands of Juan Diego on Tuesday to drop even with Carbon in the region standings. If Carbon can beat Juan Diego this afternoon (Thursday) and Emery can beat up on Delta, then Region 8 will knotted up in a four way tie.
The way the teams are playing, this is very possible. Any kind of tie will have to be broken and in the past that was often done with a coin toss. What will happen this time remains to be seen.
Carbon let the Emery game slip through their hands and they do not want to repeat that in the Thursday game with Juan Diego.
The game will be played at the Carbon field starting at 3:30 p.m.
Carbon will have one last non-league home game on May 8 against Union.
Then the fun begins as Carbon enters state tournament play.
