David Darling’s beaming face clearly displays the sheer joy and excitement associated with riding a tube down an icy slope at Terrace Hills Park.
The snow in the area has become much less beautiful in the last several weeks and the icy aspect of winter is starting to show on sled hills around the valley.
But the situation cannot keep local youth from traveling down the white slopes whenever the children and teens feel the urge.
Snow levels in the mountains above the valley total approximately 32 inches at measuring stations and contain slightly more than 10 inches of water. As of Monday, the snowpack in the drainage system registers at about 88 percent of normal.
