•Cleveland Reservoir – The Cleveland-Huntington Irrigation Company is releasing water from Cleveland Reservoir.
This has created dangerously unstable ice conditions.
The DWR strongly advises all winter recreationalists to stay off this reservoir until the spring thaw.
•Electric Lake – There has been little or no ice fishing activity at Electric Lake this past week.
•Huntington Creek – Access to the creek continues to be tough due to fresh snow and ice.
The creek is frozen in most places.
Fly fishermen may wish to try a number 12 Montana nymph or Glo Bug.
Bait fishermen can try split shot and night crawlers.
•Huntington North Reservoir – The reservoir is frozen but only a small number of ice fishermen have been out.
Ice fishing has been slow much of the winter, even though the reservoir was stocked with 600 rainbow trout brood fish on September 16th and another 700 half-pound brown trout in November and December.
•Huntington Reservior – (above Cleveland Reservoir) Fishing success has been improving and is considered good.
Dedicated Hunter Mike Hreinson contacted four groups of anglers last weekend, who were catching 10-12 inch tiger trout.
Anglers used light-colored jigs (white, pearl or light gray), tipped with a night crawler.
Trout were caught just under the ice along the shoreline in shallow water.
Snow and ice are very deep.
•Joes Valley Reservoir – Water is being drawn from the reservoir, making ice conditions dangerous.
Anglers are urged to stay off this reservoir until the spring thaw.
•Kens Lake – (south of Moab) Kens Lake has four to five inches of ice and very light fishing pressure. Success has been fair for rainbow trout.
•San Juan County – Conservation Officer Randall Scheetz reports that all fishing waters are frozen.
Ice fishing pressure has been extremely light all winter.
Scheetz cautions ice fishermen to drill test holes before venturing into deep water.
They should carry safety equipment and observe ice safety precautions.
Scofield Reservoir – Very slow ice fishing. Success has been poor, according to Hreinson, who contacted six parties of anglers on the ice last Saturday.
Hreinson reported that best fishing occurred on the north end near the boat ramp in shallow water.
Anglers used night crawlers, mealworms, ice flies and bright-colored jigs.
