Casting competition for Carbon youth

By Sun Advocate

On Feb. 7, a free fishing competition will take place for Carbon County boys and girls at the Price Walmart.
According to the Castle Country Bassmasters, the competition tests the basics of fishing, including flipping, pitching and casting.
Instructors will be on hand to assist children who have never fished before and any child age seven to 14 is eligible to participate.
“Bassmaster CastingKids is a great event that focuses on a terrific sport and its future,” commented Dave Babcock, the chapter president.
Based on a high-point scoring system, a winner from both the boys and girls seven to 10 age group and the 11-14 age group will be selected and advance to the state competition.
Winners at the state level will will have the opportunity to compete at the national competition for cash prizes.
CastingKids will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.
For more information, contact the Castle Country Bassmasters organization at 636-0642.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in order to participate.
