Sophomore Nicole Paiz serves for East Carbon in Tuesday’s home game match against Tintic. Tintic won both matches of the double-header. East Carbon has struggled this season, losing all but one match. However, the team hopes for redemption in the post season. |
East Carbon’s season slump continues.
The Lady Vikings lost both matches of a double-header to Tintic on Tuesday night at home.
The final scores were 13-25, 19-25 and 12-25 in match one and 16-25, 18-25 and 19-25 in match two.
The losses make East Carbon 1-5 in region play.
However, coach Alisa Preston is hopeful.
“Our girls have the skills to beat each team we’ve played if they just work together,” Preston commented. “That’s the key to winning or losing – if you play as a team.”
The regular season only seeds teams for the region tournament, so East Carbon is not out of the runnings.
Preston said that in the past, the Vikings have always surprised other teams in the region tournament and she expects the team to do so this year.
East Carbon still has three double-header matches this season, two of which are region games at home.
A few wins in the upcoming weeks could give the Vikings the momentum they need to enter the region tournament, which begins on Oct. 24.
East Carbon’s next game is Oct. 7 at Dugway.
