Michael Barnes

IVINS – Michael Lamont Barnes, age 34, our beloved husband, father, son, brother and best friend, suddenly went to heaven Dec. 29, 2002.
He was born Jan. 18, 1968, in Anchorage, Alaska. He married his high school sweetheart, Jennifer, on Feb. 7, 1987.
He graduated from Emery High School in 1986 and went on to further his education at Bridgerland Tech. He became a welder and steel worker. The couple lived in Logan until 1990 and then they moved to St. George. In 1993, they moved to the lovely community of Ivins, where Michael spent the last remaining years of his life.
Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and loved to take his family camping and hiking. Recently, Michael was able to make his longtime dream of becoming a taxidermist come true. He was an excellent taxidermist, and all of his animals were works of art.
He was a blessing in our lives, and he will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Jennifer; son, Brock; daughter, Katherine; mother, Alice (Dick) Bohn of Las Vegas, Nev.; brothers, Bill (Diane) Owens of Alaska; Chris Owens of Alaska; and Jeff (Pam) Owens of Washington. He was the best son-in-law of Elizabeth Terrill of Ferron and best uncle to his niece Mallory and nephew Robbie, whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 2, 1 p.m., at Spilsbury and Beard Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George. Friends may call Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of services at the mortuary. Interment, Ivins City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in Michael’s name at the Mountain America Credit Union or any Zions Bank. Friends and family may offer condolences at www.spilsburybeard.com. Click on the dove.
