Orpha Fish
CARBON COUNTY/SALT LAKE – Orpha L. Fish passed away peacefully Dec. 30, 2006 after a short illness.
She was born June 13, 1916 in Winslow, Ariz., to Carl Andrew and Sabina Ann Greer Law. Married Jonathan M. Killpack, later divorced. Married Malcolm J. Fish in the Logan LDS Temple.
Orpha and Mac enjoyed traveling around the state and living in various towns in Utah such as Toquerville, St. George and Carbonville. But the greatest joy was living in Scofield for several years while they ran the post office.
Orpha graduated from the Stevens-Henager Business College in Salt Lake, then went on to work in many positions, including being one of the first employees of the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo.
She was loved by all who knew her and she will be missed at the Coventry where she had been living.
She was preceded in death by husband, Mac; parents, Carl and Bina; sister, Kathleen; grandson, Travis; and great-granddaughter, Anna. Survived by son, Jon (Shauna) Killpack; daughters, Susan (Lowell) Elmer of Salt Lake; Carol (Merlin) Moosman of Price; brother, Carl H. (Barbara) Law; and many grand- and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to convey their sincere appreciation to Dr. Cherie Brunker for all her care of the last few years and days of mother’s life.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 3, noon, at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Boulevard, Cottonwood Heights. A viewing was held one hour prior to the services. Interment, Veterans Memorial Park, Riverton.
Bruce Foster
FERRON/ST. GEORGE – Bruce Dale “Foss” Foster , age 71, died Dec. 26, 2006 in St. George.
He was born May 12, 1935 in Ferron to Nephi and LaVon Foster.
Bruce is survived by children, Scott, Doreen, Chad, Neila, Curtis, Tori, Geina and Terisa; mother, LaVon; sisters, Shirley, Jeanie and Elaine; and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by loving wife, Betty; daughter, Joyce Reann; brother, Layton; and father, Nephi.

Family and friends will join for a celebration of Bruce’s life on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Church of Christ, 3300 E. U.S. Highway 6, Price.
Ralph Preston
EAST CARBON – Ralph D. Preston, 60, died Jan. 2, 2007 at his home in East Carbon.
He was born June 30, 1946 to LaMar J. and Lois (Chidester) Preston. He was also raised by stepmom, Lynda (Boren) Preston.
He served his country in the Vietnam War in the United States Army.
Ralph enjoyed driving up Sunnyside Canyon with his best friend, Ronny, to watch deer, and the long horned sheep. He loved watching sports on television. His favorite teams were the Utah Jazz, U of U football, the Denver Broncos and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed listening to the oldies and putting model planes together.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ralph is survived by parents, LaMar and Lynda Preston; sisters, Jean Crow of Blackfoot, Idaho; Joyce Preston of Salt Lake City; and brother, Gene Preston of Orangeville. He was preceded in death by mother, Lois Preston.
Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 5, 11 a.m., at the Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price. Viewing will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
Rose Maio
COLUMBIA/PRICE – Rose “Nana” Fratto Maio, 91, formerly of Columbia and Price, died of natural causes in Chandler, Ariz., on Jan. 3, 2007.
Rose was born in Sunnyside on Jan. 16, 1915 to Rose Spatafore Fratto and Joseph Fratto. On Aug. 2, 1941, she married Michele (Mike) Maio from Grimaldi, Italy. The marriage took place in a small Catholic church in Sunnyside. Rose and Mike were the first couple to be married in that church. Together, they brought into the world four children, Rosanna Buchholdt (Pete), Sun Lakes, Ariz.; Frank Joseph Maio, Salt Lake City; Jerry Michele Maio (Marlene), Salt Lake City; and Terry Samuel Maio (Suzan), South Jordan.
Our Nana will be greatly missed not only by her children, but also her 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nana had a great devotion to our Lord Jesus, His Blessed Mother and St. Joesph. She prayed her Rosary beads often, not only for all her family members, but also anytime she watched any of the University of Notre Dame football games.
Rose was preceded in death by husband, Mike; parents; and all her siblings, Mary Anselmo, Sam Fratto, Sunny Fratto, Margaret Bonaquisto and Mike Fratto.
Funeral Mass Saturday, Jan. 6, 10 a.m., at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Vigil service Friday evening, 7 p.m., atMitchell Funeral Home, Price.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Catholic Charities of Utah or Make A Wish Foundation of Utah.
