County expected to achieve compliance with NIMS mandates before February
Carbon County is more than 97 percent compliant with National Incident Management System requirements which will go into effect in mid-2007.
At a board of commissioners meeting on Dec. 28, county emergency services director Jason Llewelyn indicated that all cities located within Carbon’s boundaries are fully compliant with the federal guidelines.
Llewelyn said he expects Carbon County to come into full compliance with the 2007 federal emergency services guidelines before the end of January.
East Carbon, Sunnyside officials plan to discuss cities’ interlocal agreement
East Carbon and Sunnyside officials will meet immediately after the first of the year to continue to discuss the ratification of an interlocal agreement that would combine the cities’ fire departments or place the agencies under one roof.
Once ratified, the interlocal agreement will be submitted to the Utah Permanent Community Impact Board for consideration during the state agency’s April session.
The two cities are seeking funding from the CIB for a combined public safety building.
Public comment period in 7th District appointment process concludes Jan. 2
The judicial nominating committee has selected three candidates to fill an upcoming vacancy on the 7th District Court. Nominees include Carbon County Attorney Gene Strate, deputy Emery County attorney Brent Langston and 2nd District Court commissioner Douglas Thomas.
