Immunization clinic hours – Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Castle Country Habitat for Humanity – will work every Saturday possible to frame, roof and winterize a wheelchair accessible house in Castle Dale. Volunteers are needed; especially a construction supervisor. Board members are also needed. Donations may be sent to HHCC, PO Box 724, Price, UT 84501. Residents may volunteer for workdays, donate aluminum cans, help sponsor a fundraiser or get applications by calling Katherine Foster at 650-0074.
Head Start – Head Start is a free preschool program for children ages 3 to 5. Early Head Start is a free program for prenatal women and infants 0-3. The program offers prenatal health and education services, child development education, home visits, group activities, family and community partnerships. East Carbon Neighborhood Watch – Sunnyside, Columbia and East Carbon residents are urged to attend Neighborhood Watch meetings the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the senior center .
Free legal clinics – Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the district court complex, 149 E. 100 South, Price Residents should bring all documents pertaining to questions For information, call the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.

Women’s cancer screening – Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms. For information, call the health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.

Cans for CARE-A-VAN – Donations assist the elderly with transportation to medical appointments. Aluminum cans may be dropped off at Howa’s on Carbonville Road. Local residents may also call the program at 637-9488 to make pick up arrangements. Cans must be bagged.
Utah Youth Village – Local residents interested in becoming proctor parents may contact Lisa Peirce at 1-888-226-6557.
Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation -needs adult volunteers to feed orphaned animals and clean facilities. Donations are accepted. Dedicated hunter hours may be worked through the program. Call Debbie Pappas at 650-3441 for information.
Pro-Care – The after school program is seeking high school students and adult volunteers to help with daily activities at local elementary schools and substitute for regular VISTA workers. Doghouses needed – Carbon County Humane Society members will collect donated doghouses at local residences.

Carbon Family Resource Center – Story time is Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. CFRC is a free lending library open to the community. Library includes items for children, teens, parents and grandparents. CEU Library – Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The library is closed on weekends during school breaks. For information, contact the library at 613-5209.
Foster grandparents – Volunteers needed. Individuals who are at least 60 years old, have a limited income and time to share with children may qualify. FGP volunteers serve 20 hours per week. For information, call the program at 613-0987.

Price Library – Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Closed Sunday and holidays. Story time hours are Tuesday at 5 p.m., Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m. Toddler time is Monday at 11 a.m. at the library and Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. at Castle Valley Center.
The Scholastic book fair is slated May 8 to May 12.
The library will accept donated books until May 29 for its annual sale. The sale is scheduled May 30 to June 9, excluding weekends. Volunteers are needed. Call the library at 636-3188.
Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes, divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Food handlers classes – will be taught in Price May 16 and June 14 at 9 a.m., 4 and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah Health District, 28 South 100 East. Contra Dance – Kick off is May 13. Dancing will be the second Saturday of the month from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. A beginners session is slated at 7 p.m. at the CEU ballroom.
Letter carriers food drive – will be May 13. Residents are encouraged to put non-perishable food in a bag near mailboxes.
Events
20th Reunion Car Show – will be presented June 17 at Helper City Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors are being accepted.
Cinco de Mayo celebration – will be presented in the East Carbon area May 6. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at Miners Food Town Store and ends at Sunnyside park. The celebration begins at East Carbon City Park at noon. Activities include Mexican food, free games for children, a climbing wall and prize drawing. A dance with live music is slated from 8 p.m. until midnight.
Wellington Youth Rodeo – Youth up to age 16 may register to participate in the Wellington Mountaineer’s junior rodeo series May 20. Registration for three age groups will start at 10 a.m. at Wellington arena. Three age groups. For information and sign-ups, youth may call Kathie Thayn at 636-0158.

CEU Prehistoric Museum community art show – Featuring art from faculty and local artists, the exhibition will be through June 28 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 7 days a week at the museum.

Relay for Life swimming fundraiser – is slated June 1 at the Desert Wave Pool from 6 to 9 p.m.
Family to Family NAMI – education program will be a 12 week course for families and friends of individuals with severe brain disorders. NAMI also offers child specific classes for family members with children under the age of 18.
