Cleo Fail Davis
PRICE – Cleo Fail Davis passed away June 28, 2005 in Price.
She was born Feb. 18, 1919 to Frederick W. and Vila Jewkes Fail. She married Leland Davis May 23, 1940 in the Manti LDS Temple. She and Leland worked hard to provide for their family.
She was a faithful, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various capacities in the Primary and Relief Society, but especially loved Primary. Cleo served a full-time LDS mission at the Chicago LDS Temple.
She was a loving mother who taught her children well.
Leland passed away in 1973 and she met the challenge with courage and strength.
She worked for E.G. Luke and Sons, Emery County School District and Emery County assessor’s office.
Her immediate family and extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws were beloved by her.
She is survived by her children, Leland Paul (Lynda) Davis, Ogden; Max (LaRayne) Davis Sr., Price; Fredrick “Rick” (Pam) Davis, Salem; and Rosann Fillmore, Orangeville; her sister, Lorna (Don) Davis and sister-in-law Enid Fail, Elmo; grandchildren, Brett (Heidi) Davis, Wendi Davis, Todd (Kara) Davis, Jodi (John) Stacy, all of Ogden; Max (Angie) Davis Jr., Tiffany (Gary) McKibbon, Lisa Cloward, Michelle Fuller, Billie Heilson, all of Price; Nancy (Dave) Schnabel, Wellington; Lyndsie, Brady, Parker, William and Katelyn Davis, all of Salem; Aleesa Fillmore, Orangeville; Darren (Miranda) Fillmore, Logan; Eric (Krystal) Fillmore, Price; and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Vaughn Fail.
Special caregivers were Aleesa Fillmore, Marti Snow, Carol Wilstead, Emily Hansen, Whitney Snow, Jasmin Stephens, Sara Lee Kemple, Alisa Kemple, and Joni Campbell. Many thanks for their love and care.
Funeral services were Friday, July 1, at the Orangeville LDS Chapel. Interment was in the Orangeville Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Janet E. Herzet
PRICE/MAGNA – Janet Elizabeth Lamph Herzet, age 86, passed away June 29, 2005, after a brief illness in Salt Lake City at the Bennion Care Center.
Born March 10, 1919, in Standardville to Nephi Albert and Nora Blanche Memory Lamph.
She was a member of the LDS Church.
Janet spent her life caring for others. She always looked for the good in everyone and in every situation.
Survived by her children, Randy (Cathy) Lamph, Helper; Betty Ann Arno, Magna; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Francis Memory Lamph; and sisters, Alice Morine Davis and Anna Maxine Davis. Preceded in death by daughter, Veronica Blanche Milano.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 2, at the Price LDS Stake Center. Interment, Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Charles Rex Berry
PROVO – Charles Rex Berry, 80, passed away July 1, 2005 peacefully at his home in Provo.
He was born Sept. 9, 1924 in Moab to William Carl Berry and Leah Sommerville.
He is survived by and was a devoted husband to Helen; and a loving and dedicated father to their three children, Linda Roberts ( Dean), Douglas Berry ( Lori ), Julie Slaugh (Leigh). He was a great example to his 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and all who knew him.
He had a great athletic career, graduating from Carbon High where he excelled in football, basketball, baseball and track. He attended BYU, where he won all-conference honors as a halfback on the football team and pitched for the Cougar baseball team. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1951. He became an all-pro defensive back and has been inducted into the BYU and Utah Sports Hall of Fame.
He was recognized as one of Utah’s best athletes of the century.
After retiring from football, he had a successful career with
U. S. Steel and Coastal Chemical Corporation.
Rex was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as bishop, on the high council and in many other callings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Blaine and Burke; and his sisters, Merlene and Norma.
Funeral services will be Thursday July7, at noon at the LDS chapel located at 3500 North 180 E., Provo. Family and friends may call Wednesday, July 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time for the service. Interment at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
