Paul Louis Tempfer | 11/6/1924 – 08/20/2018

PRICE-Paul Tempfer, age 93, passed away on August 20th 2018. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born on November 6, 1924 in Scofield, Utah to Paul and Mary Pestotnik Tempfer.
Paul was called to the service in his 11th year at Carbon High School. He entered the Marines in December of 1943. He was called to service in June, but his father was killed in the coal mine in Hiawatha so he was deferred until December of that year. In April 1946, he was honorably discharged, while in the service he was stationed in the Pacific Theater.
In October 1948, he married the love his life Marcella (Marcie) Church at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Price, Utah. Paul and Marcie were married for 65 wonderful years. Their marriage was an example of love, kindness, friendship and they loved traveling all over the world with family and friends. Their home was warm and welcoming and hosted ongoing card parties.
For 36 years Paul was employed in various coal mines throughout Carbon County. He started to work in Hiawatha on the outside as a bony picker. Through the years he advanced to section foreman, shift foreman and mine foreman. In December of 1982, he retired from American Electric. Paul was highly regarded for his integrity, hardworking ethics, fairness and his ability to get along. He had a vast knowledge of coal mining procedures and his attention to the safety of those who worked under his supervision. He was a very hard working man and provided very well for his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, beekeeping and gardening.
Paul was a member of the United Mine Workers and America; Slovenian Lodge #113 and the Slovenian Home for many years where he served as President and Vice President. He was very active in the Knights of Columbus where he held offices in all ranks and was honored to be a 4th degree Knight.
Paul is survived by his four children; Tim (Rose) of Wimberley, TX, Tammy (Michael) of Buffalo, NY, Tom (Jenny) of Salt Lake City, UT and Trudy of Chicago, IL, daughter-in-law Andrea of Hooper, UT. He has twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and granddaughter Robyn.

Funeral Mass, Saturday, August 25, 2018, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.
Vigil service, Friday evening, 7:00 p.m. at the church. Family will receive friends at Notre Dame Church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
