Price City police plan to monitor all crosswalks near schools and the university campus from late August through September.
Using a variety of tactics, including officers in plain clothes, police will ticket violators who don’t come to a full stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, according to a press release issued Friday.
“The enforcement will aim to increase children’s safety by educating drivers on crosswalk laws, speed limits, and distracted driving—all of which contribute to both the frequency and severity of pedestrian crashes,” the release states.
So far this year, there have been 19 vehicle-on-pedestrian fatalities in Utah.
