Baseball bonds may raise $1.9 million

Funds would go toward building community baseball complex

At the July 25 Price City Council meeting a resolution was approved to allow bonds to be issued for $1,876,000 for the purpose of building a community baseball complex.
The money is being received from the Community Impact Board. Carbon School District is a partner in the project. Its participation will limit Price City’s financial obligation.
The loan is for 30 years at 1 percent interest. The project is underway on the grounds of Carbon High School.
In other business:
• Tim Glenn introduced himself to the council, explaining he is a Democrat running for the Utah House of Representatives. He lives in Green River. His agenda includes reallocation of the TRT (Transient Room Tax) money collected by motels.
• A service agreement with R&R Utah was approved. The statement of services to be performed says, “Agency shall provide government and public affairs services to include political consulting, community outreach, research, and strategic planning related to Client’s efforts to provide a community economic development assessment and identify economic development opportunities to reposition and strengthen the economy in Price, UT.”
• The National Barrel Racing Association local affiliate was given $250 as a sponsorship of their annual event.
• A resolution amending three sections of the Price City Policy and Procedure Manual was approved. These sections relate to employees smoking on the job and to employee personal choice holidays.
• Pierce Oil was approved to provide fleet fuel card services for city vehicles. Pierce Oil was selected from three proposals that were received.
• Minutes of the July 11, 2018 city council meeting were approved.
• Owners of Market Express, located at 850 South Carbon Avenue were granted an easement encroachment as a necessity to expand the business.
    • Business licenses were granted to: Covenant Communications DBA Sweet Salt Clothing (one day sale at Apple Country Crafts on 7/27/2018) at 19 E Main St.; Utah Used Car Dealer, LLC at 172 S 100 E,; JMZLokz LLC ( JMZLokz Locksmith & Uhaul) at 404 S Carbon Ave.; and to JK Window Washers LLC at 635 N 500 E.
    • Employee travel requests were approved for Shawna Fassett, Police Department – Annual TAC Training, September 24-26, 2018, Layton, UT; Nick Tatton, Community Director – NFP Turning Point insurance benefits conference, October 4-5, 2018, Park City, UT; and for Brandon Ratcliffe, Karen Basso and Casey Alton, Drug Task Force – Annual UNOA Conference, August 12-17, 2018, Mesquite, NV.
