Marion “Sweed” Olsen

    EAST CARBON-Our loving father, grandfather, brother and beloved uncle, Marion Derl Olsen, 85, passed away May 17, 2018 in Price.
    “Sweed” was born March 23, 1933 in Price, Utah to Charles Eugene and Golda Smith Olsen.  Married the love of his life, JoAnn Adeline Stockburger, November 14, 1952 in Provo, Utah.  She died March 28, 2017.
    “Sweed” was a longtime resident of Carbon County who enjoyed working as a heavy equipment operator for H.E. Lowdermilk.  He was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local # 3.  “Sweed” lived for the outdoors.  He especially enjoyed hunting, shooting rifles, barbeques, traveling with JoAnn and spending their winters in Arizona.
    Survived by his sons, Allen (Sheila) Olsen, Ogden, Mark (Jessica) Olsen, Columbia; three sisters, Kathleen Austin, Carbonville, Darla Hanna, Hotchkiss, CO, Merlyn Foster, Wellington; brother-in-law, Danny Stockburger, Greely, CO; sisters-in-law, Alice Olsen, Price, Leslie Hansen, Spring Glen; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will sorely miss him.
    Marion was preceded in death by his parents, sons, David and Gordon Olsen; sister, Elaine Allred; brothers, Sonny Olsen and Terry Hansen.
    Graveside service, Saturday May 19, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at the Price City Cemetery.  Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of “Sweed” online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
