Price City Council Meeting: Council names foster care mother of year

The Price City Council has declared May Foster Care Month.
Mayor Pro Tem Rick Davis read the proclamation and the council adopted it unanimously.
As part of the Foster Care recognition a local woman, Tammie Christensen, was presented as “Foster Care Mother of the Year.”
In other business the council declared May 20-26 as Public Works Week. Council Member Leif Nielsen said the department has an exemplary safety record and every employee takes his job very seriously. This is a way to bring recognition to the department.
A tentative budget for the upcoming year was presented by City Treasurer Lisa Richens. She said this is a preliminary budget. She has met with all city departments and has received all department requests. During the upcoming weeks the budget will be adjusted and eventually balanced. The fiscal year runs July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.
A conditional use permit was approved for Castle County Adventure Center, at 150 North Hospital Drive. This will include a restaurant with alcohol, bar with alcohol, convenience store with drive-up, gasoline sales, retail sales, advertising services, sports activity facility and public information center. The sale of gasoline has been put off for the time being.
A conditional use permit was approved for an assisted living facility, proposed to be built at 100 North Fairgrounds Road. The plan is for 30 units, all rentals.
Minutes of the April 25 council meeting and a May 5 work meeting were approved.
A grant received by the city from the Utah Division of State History was approved to be passed to the Hellenic Orthodox Church of Assumption (Greek Church). The grant is for stabilization, repair and cleaning of historic art glass windows at the Church.
The annual city adverting contracts were approved for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
Approval was given for the Price City Library to once again host the Summer Food Program.
Approval was given for a Cemetery Space Payment Agreement to be utilized when occasion requires in the transaction of sales of burial rights within the city’s cemeteries.
Business licenses were approved for Bring Your Own Broom Cleaners at 152 East 200 North; Capital Enterprises, LLC at 23 South Carbon Ave., #20; The Gaming Guild DBA DM Games at 27 East Main St.; and Zylun Insights, LLC DBA Clear Insights Group at 1 East Main St.
Approval was given to Tawnya Kulow, Price City Library, to attend the Library UPLIFT Training at Snow College, May 30-31.
