Lenise Peterman wil become Helper’s first female mayor. John Serfustini, Sun Advocate Editor

Helper continued its ongoing revitalization efforts this weekend with a community service day focused on both the Main Street design and painting the Western Mining and Railroad Museum’s Snow Plow located on 100 West.
The mission statement “creating a vibrant and beautiful city respectful of our heritage with community direction to attract tourists, increase economic activity and bolster local pride” was clearly evident in the number of community volunteers participating in Saturday’s events.
Snow plow painting was led by Charly Jones with David Dornan and Marilou Kundmueller leading the efforts on Main Street.
Helper City has and will continue to provide ongoing support services for the Main Street beautification efforts.
We are so very fortunate to have citizens who roll up their sleeves and participate in creating a warm, welcoming environment for our community as well as guests.
The first of three gabion benches have had rocks inserted, gravel was distributed and approximately half of the language steel plates have been inserted. The community will come together again on Saturday, May 12 at 9 a.m. to continue work efforts on Main Street.
The efforts reflect the time, energy and dedication of the community focused on enhancing our historic Main Street. It is amazing to see the results of design efforts which reflect our culture and heritage.
Special thanks to David Dornan, Marilou Kundmueller and Helper City Public Works staff in making this design a reality as well as those who willingly provide hours of personal time to improve our community.         I couldn’t be prouder of Helper, who we are and what we stand for.
Many thanks to everyone who continues to move us forward. I encourage everyone to come out Saturday.
Check out the progress for yourself, you will certainly catch the vibe of “it’s happening in Helper.”
