Carbon baseball defeated the American Leadership Academy Eagles twice last week and are one step closer to claiming a Region 14 title.
The Dinos defeated ALA 14-5 in seven innings on Wednesday on the road led by Senior Cody Lowe.
Lowe had four hits and four RBIs including a double and triple on Wednesday. The only other player that got a hit that day was Jadon Robertson.
Carbon Head Coach Jeff Cisneros said that he was happy with the win but disappointed in the way his team played at ALA.
“I was a little disappointed in the way we played that day, even though we beat them. We didn’t hit the ball well and we had six errors,” said Cisneros. “Sometimes it is not all about winning, it is about getting better each inning.”

The Dinos hosted ALA on Friday in Helper and defeated the Eagles 12-1 in five innings.

Lowe dominated the Eagles on the mound and pitched all five innings where he only gave up four hits and a run. He also threw eight strikeouts and only walked one batter.

At the plate, Lowe had two hits and an RBI to round out his impressive week.

“He hit the ball well on Friday and pitched the ball well too. He is doing what we ask him to do and he could be the player of the game every game,” said Cisneros.

Cesar Laya and Ty Anderson also had two hits and an RBI on Friday for the Dinos.

Cisneros said that he was happy that his team had a much better game on Friday especially defensively where they only had one error.

“We played a better overall game on Friday. We played better defense and more guys hitting the ball,” said Cisneros.

The Dinos now have the opportunity to clinch their first region title since 2011 on Tuesday against Juab at home.

A loss on Tuesday wouldn’t close the door on earning the title, the Dinos will head to Juab on Friday and have another opportunity to claim the Region 14.

First pitch for Tuesday’s game against Juab is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Helper Legion Field.
