A new medical clinic is open in Price that will concentrate on problems associated with addiction.
Doctors with Project Reality, a partner in the project, come from the Wasatch Front to provide necessary services for the clinic.
The clinic, being run in conjunction with Four Corners Behavorial Health, is needed in this community, said Karen Dolan, Director of Four Corners.
The clinic was made possible by a state grant, through money appropriated by the federal government to help people addicted to opiates, Dolan explained. There are currently about 20 people in the community being provided services.
Before the clinic opened there were nine people who traveled to Utah County for services. Dolan expects the number of patients to increase substantially.
This is the first such clinic in rural Utah. Similar clinics have been available in urban areas for decades.
Carbon County leads the state in emergency room visits due to opiate use. Dolan explains the clinic will provide a person with a problem proper medication, counseling and assistance.
