The Carbon softball team defeated Delta on Thursday 18-0 in three innings at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.
Carbon opened the game off with a six-run first inning led by the bat of Kaytlyn Cripps who had a two-run home run in the inning.
In the circle pitching for the Dinos was freshman Brooke Moosman who threw a no-hitter against Delta with three strikeouts.
Moosman got help from her defense behind her throughout the game including multiple outs being caught in foul territory.
According to Moosman, she was grateful for the support on both offense and defense to help her get the win.
“I love having a good defense behind me, we have a very good offense as well and it is awesome as a freshman to come play with such a great team,” said Moosman.
Cripps and the Dino offense weren’t done after the first inning, they scored three runs in the second inning with doubles coming from Calli Fossat and McKenna Pendergrass.
The bottom half of the third inning got started with a lead-off solo home run by Cripps then a single and two doubles by the Dinos.
Carbon would put up nine runs in the third inning with the final four runs coming from a walk-off grand slam by Cripps.
The game was called after that final hit from Cripps after only three innings.
For Cripps, not only was it an incredible day on the softball field for her, it was also her birthday. She would go onto to finish the game with seven RBIs off of three hits, all of which were home runs.
The Dinos win over Delta on Tuesday moves their record to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in Region 14.
Up next for Carbon is a tournament this weekend in Payson. The Dinos will play four games on Saturday in the tournament.
Carbon will return to Region 14 play on Tuesday with a tough matchup against Juab.
Moosman believes that her team can continue their success going into next week if they stay consistent with their current game plan and effort.
“I think we just need to keep working hard at practice and push through everything and keep doing what we are doing,” said Moosman.
The Dinos will return home next Thursday for another non-region matchup against North Sevier at 3:30.
