The Carbon Dinos lost to the Sprinvgille Red Devils 4-0 Tuesday afternoon in their season opener.
Originally the game was schedule to be a road game for the Dinos but due to snow on Springville’s field.
Senior Zac Bradley started the game for Carbon and went two innings with one hit and strikeout.
Carbon Head Coach Jeff Cisneros said after the game that he went with multiple pitchers in the game because of how early it is season.
Six different pitchers were on the mound for Carbon, three of them threw at least 30 pitches.
The pitching and fielding on Tuesday was solid for Carbon but the batting was another story on Tuesday.
The Dinos had a tough time at the plate against Springville but with only three practices in the books coming into the game, Coach Cisneros wasn’t too surprised by the performance at the plate.
“We just didn’t hit, we had 13 strikeouts in the game and we swung at terrible pitches. Honestly that is what I expected this early in the season,” said Cisneros.
Carbon had plenty of opportunities to score runs in the game including early in the first through third inning with runners on the bases.
By the end of the game the Dinos had 12 runners left on base and had the bases loaded twice.
Springville scored two runs in the sixth inning off of Carbon’s Triton Abeyta who was making his first appearance for the Dinos in over a year due to injur.
In the seventh inning Carbon’s Jadon Robertson walked three batters allowed two more runs to cross home plate.
Springville’s Bailey Nelson earned the win while Abeyta picked up the loss.
Cisneros and the Dinos will head down to Saint George this weekend for the Pizza Hut Classic and play three tough games.

“We want to win games and it’s a tournament atmosphere, they even give away a trophy. We are just working on things right now and these are glorified practices for us right now,” said Cisneros.
They open the Pizza Hut Classic on Friday with a game against defending 4A State Champion and powerhouse Dixie.
The Dinos will return home for their next home game against Region 14 foe Providence Hall on March 20 at 3 p.m.
