Our loving father, brother, uncle, and friend, Dee Truscott, age 70, passed away peacefully with his caring family by his side on February 22, 2018. Dee was born on September 18, 1947 in Price, Utah, the son of Nadine Dayley Truscott and Lowell Dee Truscott.
He was proud of serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. His unit is the subject of the novel, Black Cat 2-1: The True Story of a Vietnam Helicopter Pilot and His Crew. He had a great love of aircraft, obtained his private pilot license, and worked as an aircraft mechanic for the Utah Army National Guard and Delta Airlines. He had a kind and playful spirit and was a devoted father, brother, son, uncle, and friend. Dee enjoyed fishing, road trips, and a leisurely breakfast with friends and family. His daughter, Lindsey, was the light of his life and she will forever miss her Dad, who taught her how to fish, ride a bike, and make chocolate chip cookies. They had many great adventures together. Dee touched many lives and had a lasting positive impact on those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him, including his daughter, Lindsey Truscott, his sister, Alane T. (Brent) Marriott, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southern Utah Veterans Home and the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in the Mountain View Cemetery, Helper, Utah, with Military Honors. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Dee online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
