The Carbon Dinos lost to the American Leadership Eagles 51-46 on senior night Friday.
Coming off the biggest win of the season on Wednesday against top ranked Union, the Dinos couldn’t keep their win streak alive.
The Dinos got the ball rolling in the beginning of the game in big part to the offensive energy provided by senior forward Ryan Gagon.
In the first quarter, Gagon was simply unstoppable from the three-point line. He would go on to have a team-high 11 points in the first quarter.
Carbon would take a 23-21 lead into halftime as their defense did its job in the second quarter, only allowing ALA to score four points.
In the fourth quarter, the Dinos could not get a shot to go in and missed a lot of shots around the basket.
“We had trouble getting the ball in the hole. It happens sometimes and it’s hard to win when you can’t find a bucket,” said Carbon Head Coach Kyle Willson.
Gagon continued to provide offense for the Dinos in the fourth quarter by scoring 12 points including two threes. He would go on to be the team’s leading scorer with 29 points.
The Dinos will still have a chance to make it to the playoffs.
They will take on the number two seed from Region 15 at 6:30 p.m. at Wasatch High School in Heber City next Saturday.
WIllson said the Dinos will likely play the Grand County Red Devils.
