Bryan Shiner

    Bryan Timothy Shiner passed away suddenly on December 25, 2017 due to complications associated with asthma. He was a loving son, father, grandson, nephew, cousin, companion and friend…and a man who loved working as a carpenter.
    Bryan was born September 28, 1978 to Dennie Shiner and Marie (Shiner) Bowcut in Price, Utah. Bryan spent his formative years in Salt Lake and Price. After high school, he met Ashley (Grant) Hollis. While together, they had two beautiful girls, Alexisann (Lexi) and Brianna (Bri). Bryan’s daughters would remain the light of his life, bringing him great joy.
    Bryan chose a career in the construction trades, learning from and working with his father, a general contractor who built numerous homes in the Carbon and Emery County area over the years. When they worked together, Bryan was always Dennie’s “right hand man”.
    As a builder, Bryan learned how pieces and parts come together to create a finished project. He developed a carpenter’s eye for visualizing how building materials structurally interact in home construction. Being on the ground, on a ladder, or moving through trusses and rafters on a roof with easy agility, he enjoyed the work and his enthusiasm was infectious to others on the crew. Whether working on concrete, framing, tile, paint, or trim and finish, Bryan ensured the job was done right. He took pride in his work from start to finish.
    Bryan loved his family and they loved him. Even in tough times their family bonds remained strong. Bryan’s two daughters, Lexi and Bri, knew their Dad loved them. Even though they lived apart for the last few years, they regularly kept in touch through phone conversations and the internet. Especially enjoyable were those times when they got together in person. Watching Bryan around Lexi and Bri, you could sense the joy of a loving father playing games, showing affection, and just enjoying his daughters.
    Bryan showed respect and love through his willingness to work around the Shiner residence after his father was partially disabled. He would often show Dennie photos of the homes he was building or the projects he was working on. This was Bryan’s way of saying “Dad, you taught me how to do this”.
    Bryan is survived by his daughters Alexisann and Brianna; siblings Savanna Bowcut, Haley Shiner, Kevin Shiner, Mallory Monfredi, Rochelle (Bowcut) Graff; the mother of his children, Ashley Hollis; his father Dennie Shiner; his mother Marie Bowcut and her husband Craig; his grandmother Cordy Shiner; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss his kind heart.
    No services are planned, but a celebration of Bryan’s life will be held at a future date.
