Donald Edward Cools, born in Los Angeles, California, January 27, 1930, died of natural causes at his home in Helper, Utah, on December 6, 2017.
He is predeceased by his parents and three brothers and survived by three sisters.
He is also survived by his ex-wife, Gloria Thiele of Lindale, Texas, 9 children, Michael and wife, Karen Cools, Ramona Cools, Naomi Cools-Winters, Lawrence and wife, Margo Cools, Jean Day, Rebecca Medina, Eugene and wife, Michelle Cools, Maria and husband, Steven McClellan, Charles and wife Karrie Cools, 22 grandchildren and step-grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cools was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, and as a mechanical engineer in the 1970s was responsible for the re-design of the ejection system used by the Naval Air Force.
At his request there will be no public services held.
