Spilled groceries block street, but not for long

Many hands made light work as volunteers rushed to remove and reload groceries that spilled on Carbon Avenue near 400 South last week. Their effort removed a traffic hazard and probably saved some donated food from destruction.
“There were cans everywhere,” said Kim Hackwell, a witness to an incident on November 20 when a load of food for the Carbon County Food Bank spilled, briefly blocking traffic in both directions.
According to the Price Police Department, the flatbed truck was en route to have the food weighed, but the load was not secured and slid off the truck onto the roadway.
Several passers-by stopped to help pick up the canned goods and load them into another truck.
