Almer Delon Gardner

    Almer Delon Gardner of Price, Utah, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home Monday, November 20, 2017. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army with a career spanning over 22 years that included service in the Korean War and Vietnam War. After traveling all over the world for the military, with Panama being his favorite assignment, he retired honorably from the military service as a Sergeant First Class. His list of awards includes the Korean Service Medal, the Republic of South Vietnam Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Army of Occupation (Japan) Medal. He worked as a coal miner in Emery County for 14 years retiring in 1994.
    Al was born Aug. 20, 1931 in Eager, AZ to Frederick Walter and Olive Gardner. At the age of 14, he and his brother Fred journeyed to Utah and lived with an uncle on his farm until he was old enough to join the military. He married Sylvia Louise Gardner(Anderson) in Elko, NV. After retiring from the military he began his civilian life in Ogden before finding his home in Emery County; where he and Louise raised their two daughters. He enjoyed spending time in his garden, taking walks to admire nature, and spending time with his grandchildren.
    Almer was preceded in death by, five siblings, his wife Sylvia Louise Gardner and his grandson Alexander Delon Gardner. He is survived by his children Shana and Anthony Hutchins, Amy and Adam Linville, and nine grandchildren; Austin and Allie Hutchins, Justin Linville, Caleb Linville, T. J. Linville, Aidyn Henline, Ethan Henline, Sean Hutchins, Aurelia Hutchins, and Killian Hutchins. He is also survived by his siblings; Orva Miner, George Gardner, James Gardner, Jimmy Gardner, Kathleen Collins, and Delano Gardner.
    Services will be held at Fausett Mortuary, 680 East 100 South Price, UT 84501 on Wednesday, November 29, 2017. Funeral Services will include: a celebration of life at 10 AM, and the internment scheduled for noon at Price City Cemetery.
