Janet Smith Root Palfreyman 1

Our beautiful mother and grandmother has left us.  Janet passed away on November 4, 2017.  She was a lovely lady and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.  Janet was born September 28, 1930 in Beaver, Utah to William Reed Smith and Laura Emily Morris Smith.  She married Maurice Max Root (deceased) September 1, 1948.  They resided in Milford, Provo, and St. George, Utah, and were later divorced.  They are the parents of Janet Ann (Dennis), Maurice McKay (deceased), Richard (Diana), and David (deceased).  They have 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Janet was remarried to Kent B. Palfreyman July 10, 1992 and had a happy and eventful life until he passed away January 5, 2014.  She has 3 stepchildren, Annette (Conway), David (deceased) (Kaylene), and Mark; 7 step grandchildren and 20 stepgreat grandchildren.  She is also survived by her 2 brothers, Rex L. Smith and Patrick M. Smith.
Janet’s family was always the light of her life.  She relished any time with family, adopted family, friends, or new acquaintances.  Janet’s life had many twists and turns from farm girl (Tromping hay and riding bare back.) to sophisticated clothing buyer (Working many years in Provo and Orem at Taylors Department Store, ZCMI, and Macys.).  From the tragedy of losing 2 sweet babies to the triumph of watching her family grow and succeed.  From her impeccable taste in everything to her passion for NBA and NCAA basketball.  She was one of a kind and we will miss her terribly.
The family would like to especially thank Canterbury Assisted Living and First Choice Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care and love she received over the last two years.  She loved you all.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 11 at the Springville 2nd Ward, 1785 E. 400 S., Springville, Utah.  Viewings will be Friday, November 10 from 6 to 8 PM at Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center St., Provo, Utah; and Saturday, November 11 at 9:30 AM at the Springville 2nd Ward.  Burial that afternoon at Mountain View Cemetery, Beaver, Utah.
