We are off to another great year at the Castle Valley Center. With school already in session for a few months, we are working hard to see that each student gets the help they need to learn about their world and each other. We feel we have the best students along with a caring and supportive staff. Good things happen every day for our students thanks to the dedicated staff and the fun things they do each day. Every day is an adventure.
Knowing that our article comes out just before Halloween this year we wanted to show some of the fun things we did last Halloween. As you can see our students and staff really enjoy this time of year. Enjoy the pictures, they are sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.
We not only enjoy each holiday as it comes along, and there are many other great things going on at the Castle Valley Center. Each student gets the individual attention they need to maximize their potential. We start with preschool for 3 and 4 year olds. Students are referred for services by parents, early childhood intervention or other agencies. Many students have a speech delay and receive intensive intervention to correct this concern so they can maximize their education career wherever they attend school. This is true of our transition kindergarten as well, our students get the help they need at an early age and are then able to move on to the school near their home. This year we have 2 transition kindergarten settings. Students learn the kindergarten curriculum with additional assistance according to their needs.
Our school age program has some recent changes to assist us to reach the needs of our most in need students. Our goal is for all students to learn at their ability leveland get the help they need. Some of our students have fragile heath concerns, some are in a wheel chair or unable to talk. Our staff is trained to help each student according to their needs. Many students, in addition to speech and language help, have occupational (small muscle skills such as holding a pencil) and physical therapy, (large muscle development such as walking running etc.) Our students learn at different rates, but all have the opportunity to learn skills such as reading, language and math.
We also have adults with disabilities attending the Castle Valley Center. Our students and adults come from both Carbon and Emery Counties. The adults have opportunities to do fun things together for social interaction and community participation as well as self-help skill development. We have a work crew that does lawn and yard maintenance and custodial work at various homes and businesses in the area. We have a trophy and plaque business that helps people earn an income and fill a need in our community. Our trophies and plaques are well made and very popular with many local groups as well as out of the area.
We enjoy tremendous support from local business, individuals and our school district. Please come by for a tour anytime, we love to show others the great things that are going on here at the Castle Valley Center.
