I hope this letter helps to alleviate a situation here in East Carbon. Across the street from my home, there is an illegal saw mill operating in a residential neighborhood.
I’ve contacted East Carbon City about this situation many times, called the police and have also addressed the city council about it on multiple occasions. East Carbon City zoning doesn’t allow this type of industrial enterprise in a residential area, but apparently nepotism or special treatment for friends and relatives are the order of the day here.
When these people operate, they run multiple gas chain saws (no mufflers) from early morning to dark and sometimes after dark, occasionally blocking our street with trucks and trailers.
This isn’t just a small backyard fire wood operation, but a full time tree cutting and sawing operation. One should see the size of trees they bring down from the Bruin Point area and the quantity.
I have many photos and videos to prove this. This neighborhood enterprise is not only very noisy, but is a danger to small children, a fire hazard, is breeding skunks, mice, rats, snakes and other vermin and in short, is a public nuisance. This enterprise is much too big to be located in a residential area and needs to be relocated to the East Carbon industrial park where it belongs.
