SPRING GLEN-Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Grace Keele, passed away October 18, 2017 at Utah Valley Specialty Hospital in Provo.
She was born in Price, Utah on March 27, 1942 to John and Rose Eaquinta Spatafore. Married Roy Van Keele October 1962, in Price, Utah. They had four children, David, Shelli, Randy, and Chad. They later divorced.
Grace was a longtime resident of Carbon County, and a lifelong member of the Catholic Church where she served in many capacities. She worked for the Carbon County School District for over thirty years, as a secretary for the school lunch program, and later a secretary for the bus garage.
She was always very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, including baseball, football, basketball, cheer, and dance. Grace enjoyed keeping score at baseball games for three generations. Grace loved gardening, baking Italian cookies every Christmas, and always had a book in her hand reading love stories. She always had a homecooked meal ready, and loved spoiling all the kids. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Grace joined the sewing club in the church basement, along with a few of the other parishioners. They embroidered dish towels, and other small projects to benefit St. Anthony’s Church. During lent, Grace supported the fundraising lunches hosted by the Methodist Church. Their lunches helped various organizations throughout the community. Grace also enjoyed working at the St. Anthony’s parish helping with the funeral dinners.
Grace is survived by three sons and one daughter; David Keele, Shelli Marvidakis, Randy Keele, and Chad Keele, all of Helper, Utah; brothers, John (Debra) Spatafore, of San Luis Obispo, CA, and David Spatafore, of Salt Lake, Utah; five grandchildren, Byrttnee Christensen, Brooke Keele, Dylan (Kyla) Keele, Jashea Migliori, and Jaclyn Wright; five great-grandchildren, Marshea and Braquae Marvidakis, and Kayden, Kylyn, and Erabella Keele; and five nieces, Heather, Ashley, Dorothy, Gina, and Lauren.
Preceded in death by parents, John and Rose Spatafore, brother, Robert Spatafore, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, 10:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service, Tuesday evening 7:00 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will receive friends at St. Anthony’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
