    PRICE-Our loving father, grandfather and the “Greenest Thumb” in Price, Joe Edumenio Manzanares, “Grandpa Joe”, 93, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 in Price while surrounded by his incredible family.
    He was born April 7, 1924 in Lumberton, New Mexico to Candido and Paublita Valdez Manzanares.  Married Josephine Valdez, April 8, 1941 in Lumberton, New Mexico.  His sweetheart “Grandma Jo” preceded him in death on February 12, 1993.
    Grandpa Joe was a life member of the Catholic Church and a longtime resident of Carbon County.  He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America, Kaiser Steel Local # 9958 and the Price American Legion Post # 3.  Joe was very patriotic and he honorably served his country in the US Army during World War II.
    Joe loved the outdoors, hunting, camping and especially fishing Timber Canyon, White River and Scofield.  His fondest memories were those shared with his family.  He enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball and was a staunch supporter of baseball in our community. “Grandpa Joe” had the greenest lawn in town and his home on 100 South was admired by all.
    He is survived by three sons and one daughter, Candido “Candy” (Louise) Manzanares, Price, Rosalie Manzanares, Palm Desert, CA, Paul (June) Medina, Price, Alfred (Shirley) Medina, Las Vegas, son-in-law, Ron Martinez, Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
    Preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Josephine Manzanares; daughter, Pauline Martinez and grandson, Joey Manzanares.
    Funeral Mass, Wednesday, October 18, 2017, 10:30 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Price.  Vigil service, Tuesday evening 7:00 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) where the family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services.  Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery with honors by the Price American Legion and the U.M.W.A.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Joe online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
