There was music in the air on Monday night when the Carbon High School music department presented “A Night at the Movies” musical show.
Hundreds of people filled the high school auditorium as members of four different choirs came out on stage and not only sang, but moved rhythmically to the music whether it was slow or fast.
The choirs are under the direction of Arthella Williams, and she was helped out by Nicoloe Bennett, Mikelle Monson and Riley Winn with the choreography.
The choirs consisted of the Concert Choir, Men’s Choir, Vocal Jazz and Musettes. There were also numbers from all of the ladies, all of the gentlemen and all coming together to sing and dance to the music of “Footloose.”
Soloists were Sam Carpenter, Rebecca Martin, Austin Engar and Mikayla Taggart singing “Despicable Me 2”; Kyler Ashby in “La La Land”; Meghan Bradley singing “Annie”; Summer Artherly singing “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”; Bethany Prettyman, Trinalee Hatch, Merecedez Clifford and Bethany Stefanof singing “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and Saul Beecher, Noah Bradford, Carter Sorenson and Keenan Hatch singing “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
A special number was sung by new school superintendent Lance Hatch. He brought out his guitar and sang, with the audience’s help, “Man of Constant Sorrow” from the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou.”
