The Helper American Legion Baseball team is moving on to the Utah State American Legion Championship Tournament as the third seed from the southern division.
Helper hosted the Southern Utah State American Legion Tournament last week, during which the team played against South Sevier, Pleasant Grove and Vernal. Helper began the tournament against South Sevier, and while the Merchants lost 4-3, South Sevier actually had to forfeit due to not having enough players present and Helper moved on. The Merchants lost 4-2 against Pleasant Grove, but were able to score a victory over Vernal to earn the third seed into the State Tournament. The Merchants tallied 13 hits in the game and defeated Vernal 7-4.
Helper will face-off against Lone Peak on Wednesday at Gates Field at 10:30 a.m. for the next round of the tournament.
