The recent closure of multiple local clothing stores has sparked new partnership between Tougher, our local women’s gym, and Naturally Inspired, a skin care and clothing business owned and run by Shanna Magnuson in Castle Dale. Working together, they hope to bring a new boutique to town that will offer options that we have lost.
Magnuson opened her first store in Huntington and operated it for two years, selling clothing and accessories before selling to a friend. She wanted to be able to spend more time at home with her daughter. However, she soon found out quickly that she wasn’t able to sit still very long.
“I started trying skin care products as a hobby at first, but with everything going on I decided to go ahead,” Magnuson stated as she described how she made the products in her own kitchen for six months for local customers. Her store in Castle Dale will soon be celebrating its two-year anniversary this coming July.
Tougher is selling the skin care products inside the gym, hoping to raise enough money so they can convert the back area into a full on boutique where Magnuson can present more products, handcrafted jewelry and unique clothing styles.
“As of right now, we are running a trial period to see where things go,” Magnuson explained. If the business acquires enough support, they will be able to bring in more product options.
Magnuson makes natural based products only and her stock is continuing to grow. The store offers everything from hand soaps, body butter, deodorant, wax melts, bath bombs and very popular lip balms. The gym is now offering subscription boxes for $24 a month that will give the customer a new fragrance and a new product to try that will be a complete surprise every month. This will give customers an insight into the other products they wouldn’t think of trying beforehand.
The businesses have already begun to attract customers from out of town.
Austin Cowan, an instructor with Tougher claimed, “We had a group of moms stop in traveling through for a tournament. They were very excited about it. They don’t have anything like this where they’re from.”
Those who attend the gym have also taken notice to the possible positives this business could bring this area.
“Tougher is a gym by women for women. The addition of the boutique is great for local business and for members current and new,” Eshyla Becenti, a regular with the gym stated.
Becenti also claimed that, “It will not only provide a space for women to come to be active, but also products to reinforce a more confident and healthy community.”
Other than the two options in Price and Castle Dale, Naturally Inspired also offers a small Etsy shop online.
“I hope to do a full on website.” Magnuson remarked. “But I’ve been so busy with local people.”
