Catherine “Duty” Seilsopour

On a mild morning in May, Catherine “Duty” Seilsopour closed her eyes for a mid-morning nap. She died peacefully, as she wished, with little fanfare at home surrounded by family.
She was born a coal miner’s daughter on 04-30-43 to Florene “Judd” Duty and Jess Duty. Her father, Jess, died when she was 12 and that heartbreak colored the rest of her life. She was not shy about speaking her mind, a trait she inherited from a legion of Judd women.
She met her husband Masoud, Matt, in Price Utah where he was a college student. When Matt won the campus contest of, “Who Can Grow the Bushiest Beard in Three Weeks,” she knew she was in love.
They were married, moved to California, Iran, Saudi Arabia and finally Vista California. Along the way they had four kids Richard, Jim, Patrick and Shannon and had many adventures along the way.
Grandma always loved to travel and have family gathering surrounded by her kids and five grandchildren. She was survived by her husband of 56 years, Masoud, her sister Patricia “Judd” Kirkreit, her children and much adored grandchildren, Phillip, Ryan, Tony, Jack and Gabby. Her loved ones, Jess Duty, Florene Duty and her brother, Mont Duty, preceded her in her death.
