With the push of a lever, a Division of Wildife Resources fishery employee releases 1,500 catchable Rainbow Trout into Helper’s Gigliotti Pond Tuesday. Ice is all gone. DWR Regional Fisheries Manager Justin Hart said the planting should improve the catching success rate. He suspects that the Rainbows that were already in the pond may have suffered a heavy winter kill because anglers haven’t been hooking too many. The urban fishery at the county fairgrounds was also stocked, but the ground around Wellington’s Knight-Ideal pond was still too muddy for the truck to approach.
