Carbon Girls’ Golf continues to improve

By Sun Advocate

The Carbon High School Lady Dino Golf team traveled to Nephi last Thursday and took third at Juab’s tournament at Canyon Hills Golf Course. Rain, snow and wind was the theme of the day, but all the girls soldiered on and were able to finish. Carbon placed third with a score of 111 points. Juab was first with a score of 130 and Richfield was second at 121.
Carbon’s Laini Davis led the team with 29 points, Indie Gardner 28, Gwyn Kardelis 28 and Sam King 26. Carbon sits in third place in the region, at this point early in the season.
“We are a relatively young team with only three returning seniors and either two sophomores and a freshman or two freshmen and a sophomore rounding out the Varsity team,” said head coach Kenji Otani after the tournament. “We had a really good week of practice and my girls are getting better every week. I’m proud to say they are not satisfied with the status quo and I’m proud of my team.”
