CHS Baseball falls to Emery in close battle

By Sun Advocate

Despite the stellar effort of junior Zac Bradley on the mound for the Dinos, Carbon was unable to pull off a win against the Emery High School Spartans on Tuesday, losing 5-2.
Bradley pitched four innings for Carbon, giving up just two runs, while striking out eight batters and allowing no walks.
While Emery jumped out to an early lead, scoring one run in the first inning, the Dinos were able to tie the game in the top of the second. Senior Chase Morgan reached base on a single and scored a few plays later on an RBI single by Bradley.
Carbon took a one-run lead in the top of the third, with sophomore Ty Anderson scoring on an RBI single by senior Gavin Robinett. However, Emery came back to tie the game at two in the bottom of the inning.
Bradley pitched a clean fourth inning, but was replaced by Robinett in the top of the fifth. Robinett gave up three runs in the inning on three hits.
Even with players reaching base in both the sixth and seventh innings, the Dinos were not able to muster enough hits to make up the three run deficit and lost 5-2.
While the game falls into the loss column, the Dinos did show improvement on the defensive end, with only five runs, four earned, allowed, and just one error committed. Carbon still struggled offensively, tallying five hits in the game, all singles, amounting to two runs.
Carbon falls to 3-4 overall early this season after the loss. The Dinos will travel to play Grand County High School on Saturday for their next game. They will return home to play Union High School on Tuesday with first pitch slated for 3 p.m.
