Helper wins state award

By Sun Advocate

Helper City was honored by its peers in the Rural Waters Association of Utah recently. The city won recognition as the most improved wastewater system for 2016. For the past three years, Helper has been digging up almost all of its aged sewer, culinary water and storm drain systems and replacing with new designs and materials. The $22 million infrastructure project was necessary because some sections pipe were about 70 years old and plagued with leaks. Floods after rainstorms were another problem. The project was funded by grants, loans and increases in utility rates.
