The Sally Mauro Singers shiver their way through a carol on the stage of the Senior Citizens Park Friday during the Lights On ceremony. Minutes after their performance, the switch was thrown and Main Street turned from darkness into a blaze of color. The event began with a candlelight procession from the Rio Theatre to the park and Mayor Ed Chavez officially proclaiming Helper as Utah’s Christmas town. Santa Claus arrived on a city fire engine at the end.
