Observance of Veterans Day in Price will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Veterans Participation walk from 300 East to 100 East on Main Street. “All veterans are encouraged to participate with the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Guard and Marine Corps League,” said Neldon Huff, Post No. 3 Commander of the Price American Legion.
At 10 a.m., veterans will assemble at the Doughboy Statue in the Peace Gardens for a 25th year memorial for the relocation of the monument from Hiawatha to Price. Guest speakers will address the audience. Students from Pinnacle Academy will be at the Peace Gardens to lead the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the American Legion presenting the 21-gun salute in honor of all veterans past and present on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, which is when the armistice ending World War I was signed in 1919.
All residents are invited.
The public is also invited to the dedication of a new flagpole at the VFW Miners Post 2379. This will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at 189 N. Carbonville Rd. “This new flagpole has been a long time in coming and is thanks to a diligent community effort, said Post Commander Arthur Lopez.
