A check for $2000 presented to Carbon School District last week will go for a very good cause.
“We are going to use this money to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to all the kids that are eating in the summer lunch program this summer,” said Patty Rigby, the Director of Food Service for the district.
The funds were made available through the efforts of Price Elks Lodge, BPOE 1550 through a grant program.
Mary Alice Johnson was instrumental in securing the money from the Elks National Foundation through a grant. That national foundation gives out multiple grants per year for worthy projects.
“We are glad we can help out.” said Johnson after the presentation.
The school district is currently feeding between 300 and 400 kids a day at schools in the district.
