A fine day for fishing

By Sun Advocate

Helper’s Gigliotti Pond was the site Wednesday for the annual Special Needs Fishing Day put on by the Division of Wildlife Resources and the US Forest Service. A long list of sponsors made it possible for busloads of people to try their luck, with help from DWR and USFS employees and many volunteers. Anglers got all the equipment they needed, and the ponds shorelilne platforms made wheelchair access easy.
Kids’ Day Saturday
On Saturday, June 13, DWR will sponsor its annual Kids’ Fishing Day at the Gigliotti Pond. From 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., the DWR will lend fishing equipment and bait to those who don’t have their own. “Personnel will also be on-hand to help parents and their children have a fun and successful fishing experience,” says Brent Stettler, DWR regional conservation outreach manager. There will be prizes for kids under 14. Prizes may be picked up when the family leaves the pond.
