Mark your calendars.
The Sun Advocate presents the Chase the Summer Sun contest.
The contest will include weekly clues and prizes, This contest is for kids age 3 to 16 but there will be things for the parents as well.
The contest will run from June 2 through September 2. An activities list and stamp card will be published monthly in the Sun Advocate. Look in today’s issue and in the June 9 edition for the June activity list.
To get involved read the paper weekly for clues on where and how to win fun prizes. The Chase the Summer Sun Score Card, with new activities will appear in the paper on the first two Tuesdays of each month. We encourage parents to post pictures and comments on the Chase the Summer Sun – Sun Advocate Facebook page or bring them in to the Sun Advocate office at 845 East Main.
Each month’s activity list and treasure hunt clues will be published weekly. Photo copies of the score card will not be accepted. The original card must be cut out from the paper to play in the contest.
Have your score cards stamped at the Sun Advocate or participating businesses as you complete activities and then you will be entered in weekly drawings.
In addition to the weekly drawings for prizes children with the most stamps will be entered in drawings to win special prizes at the summers end party to be held in September. We will also publish a photo and bio of the kids with the most activities completed.
Updates and details for the contest will be available each week in the Sun Advocate.
Also play our treasure hunt map hidden inside the Sun Advocate pages. Weekly clues will be on the Chase the Summer Sun pages. This is a family project, involving both kids and parents for a summer of fun.
Discount summer subscriptions are available for five dollars, if you have children participating in the contest. Even if you have a subscription, get an extra one for the kids so they can look for the Chase the Summer Sun clues. Bring us your participation photos or upload them to Chase the Summer Sun Facebook page so you can watch for their pictures in the paper throughout the summer and have an extra copy for scrap book pages and to share with family.
This is a family activity and at the end of the summer we will also give an award and recognition to the most active parent. (many of the activities require parental participation and we would really appreciate getting photos of the children in our community). Please help us tell the story of our community’s Chase the Summer Sun contest.
For the subscription discount ask for the Chase the Summer Sun Special.
This is this week’s clue for the kids. Count how many suns are in the Sun Advocates pages in the Tuesday June 2, edition. Use the complete paper (which includes the A section and the B section). The word sun and any and all sun graphics should be counted. Count how many times the word or graphic appears. Parents, bring your child in with the correct answer between June 2 and June 9.
Follow the weekly clues and instructions to be entered into a special drawing for treasure clues for 4 lagoon tickets. Winner of the treasure clue contest will be announced at the end of July. For parents with very young children highlight the word for them and help them count. We will make accommodations for the young ones.
We are also asking parents to make any and all suggestions on how to enhance our project. Please submit your ideas to our community project coordinator, Cheryl Young at 435 637 0732 or you can email her at cheryl.young@sunad.com.
In addition, if you should decide to host a group event on certain days or places let us know and we will add it to our updates that will appear in the Sun Advocate.
Have a safe Chase the Summer Sun Summer.
