After a long season with plenty of ups and downs, the Carbon High Wrestling team accomplished one of their main goals of the season.
Despite an eighth place team finish at the 3A Southern Region Meet in Richfield on Friday and Saturday, CHS qualified 12 wrestlers to compete in the 3A State Tournament this weekend at UVU in Orem.
Wrestlers qualifying included Bradley Judd and Kayden Lee (both at 106 lbs), Casey Shiner (120), Bradlee Chatterton (132), Jacky Byrge (138), Taylon Abeyta (152), Nathan Velasquez (160), Clayton Rhoades (170), Kyler Wood (182), Dallyn Mower (195), Wyatt Jeffs (220) and Jasper Thayn (285).
“The kids wrestled tough and they stepped up at the Region meet,” said CHS Head Coach Steve Woodhouse. “They knew what was at stake at region and now with the State Tournament, it’s a whole new game. Anything can
happen.”
