Dora Guymon Larsen(Mrs. Dora)

By Sun Advocate

HUNTINGTON – Oh, how our Mother loved September with autumn leaves and crisp air.
Dora was born May 22, 1926 to Mabel Behunin and F. Marion Guymon. She died Sept. 4, 2012, in her home, with her family around her. She lived her entire life in Huntington.
Dora married Max L. Larsen on Nov. 8, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mother worked as a reading specialist aide at Huntington Elementary for many years. She had such a special love for all of the students that she helped teach to read.
Mother was a stickler for using proper grammar and had quite the work ethic. We wondered about these lessons as children, but have so appreciated them as adults.
She had a love for nature and taught us as children how to look for birds, nests, sunsets, leaves, flowers and all that nature gives us. She called these special things her “zingers for the day.”
Her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been a strength to her. Her testimony of the church’s teachings was always strong. She and Dad’s love for each other was a great example for us as children. They always kissed and said “I love you” everyday. Mom said she and Dad were “a good team.” Where one was, the other was close by.
Mother and Dad served as missionaries in the Nauvoo Visitors Center Mission.
Mother was a friend to many and performed countless quiet acts of service. We are proud to be her children.
She is survived by her husband Max, daughters: Gayle Brown (Kent), Sandy; Barbara Crawford (Jon), Ferron; Sheri Cox (Leslie), Orangeville; April Satchwell (Chris), Meridian, Idaho; and son, M. Guy Larsen, (Kelli), Littleton, Colo.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center (240 N. Main St., Huntington). A viewing will be held at Fausett Mortuary (720 N. Center St., Castle Dale) on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday prior to the services at the church from 9:30 to 10:35 a.m. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery.
