Carbon 11-year-old All-Star takes second

By Sun Advocate

When this years Little League All-Star team started, no one thought that they would end up one game away from being the southwestern regional champions.
According to head coach Mike Lessar, the team played like champions the whole time.
“These guys played their hearts out every time,” said Lessar. “We won the first four games of the tournament, three to California teams and one to an Arizona team, who we won 10-0.”
There was a lot of anticipation amongst the team but when they took the field they played like pros said Lessar.
“In the final game we played good,” commented the coach. “We had a lot of hits but they never found the holes, which made it nearly impossible to get any runners on base.”
According to Lessar the other team was having a good day, and was able to hit the ball in all the right spots, which got them on base and finally won the game.
“I feel that this team worked very hard and played a great tournament,” said Lessar. “We made some errors and let them score runs but for the most part we were just not on fire. I am thrilled that we made it as far as we did and want to congratulate everyone on the team for giving it their all.”
The team will be featured in the International Days parade this weekend.
